In January 2008 the fifth – and at the time, final – installment of EA’s hugely popular Burnout series was released: Burnout Paradise. Now, nearly 10 years to the day we woke up to the news that a remastered version of the open world driving game is coming to PS4.
The original game was released on PS4, Xbox and Windows and was the first in the Burnout series to be released on PC. Burnout Paradise’s popularity stemmed from it’s open world gameplay. Set in the fictional “Paradise City”, players could cruise around all areas of the city, searching for and competing in a host of different race types along the way.
The game also made great use of online mode, which brought with it extra games – such as the popular “Cops & Robbers” – which let you test your behind-the-wheel skills against players from around the world. The game was lauded by critics and players alike for bringing the Burnout series’ tried and tested driving mechanics to a whole new open-world platform.
This all makes it even more exciting that we could be seeing a brand new version in the UK later this year. Currently we do not know the game’s exact title, or which platforms it will appear on – but we do know that it will be coming to PlayStation 4 in Japan on March 16th.
