Retro Reigns Supreme
Crash Bandicoot is popular, we all know that. It’s clear just how popular the orange Bandicoot really is when the right elements come together. We saw the launch of Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy this Friday, and while we expected a pretty good launch out of the game, not many expected just how well the game would sell.
Crash has managed to beat out the likes of Horizon: Zero Dawn to become the biggest PS4 launch game of 2017, you read that right! A remake of our beloved Retro PS1 classic has toppled a modern PS4 juggernaut! The game is second overall launch wise for 2017, just behind Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon Wildlands.
It’s amazing to think that a remaster of a Retro Game is standing at the top of a pedestal in 2017. There was a time where people scoffed at the notion of the platformer revival, and that nobody would want to see a concept so outdated. There is a Retro resurgence is happening people! Crash Bandicoot is dominating, Castlevania is going to be on Netflix this week, and Sonic Mania is set to be the proper ‘Sonic 4’ we’ve all been waiting for.
Hopefully, the coming months will see more great revivals and Retro love letters to the community to enjoy!
Have you been enjoying Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy? What do you think is the main reason the game has had such a great launch?
