One of the highlights at the recent Play Expo Blackpool was that Duncan Gutteridge, the original artist for Sonic the Hedgehog games during the Mega Drive / Genesis era, provided a master class on how to draw the legendary blue hedgehog.
As this was such a special occasion, and seeing as not everyone could attend the event, we decided to record the panel so that everyone at home could learn how to draw Sonic the Hedgehog as well as discover more about Duncan Gutteridge’s life as a videogame artist.
For those unfamiliar Duncan Gutteridge does a lot of different illustrations but he is mostly well-known for his illustrations on the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise during the Mega Drive / Genesis era. While working as an illustrator for SEGA Duncan drew Knuckles for Sonice the Hedgehog 3 (1994) and Sonic Triple Trouble for Game Gear as well as Sonic the Hedgehog for the numerous Mega Drive / Genesis games.
