Rocket Man

Homebrew GameBoy Game ‘Rocket Man’ Receives a Demo

The last ‘official’ Game Boy game may have been released in the year 2000 (which was Pokemon Yellow within Europe) but that doesn’t stop homebrew developers from tinkering with the platform as over the past few days a group of three coders have managed to create and release a working playable build of a 2D Platformer running on emulated GameBoy software.

The game is known as Rocket Man and, as the name suggests, is inspired by Capcom’s Mega-Man (otherwise known as Rock Man in Japan) videogame franchise. The game, which was created by Imanolea (developer), Seiyouh (graphics), and NAP.VGM (audio), sees players take control of ‘rocket man’ who must move forward and destory anything that gets in his path. Of course some form of story is to be expected; but at the time being it looks like a nice little Mega-Man clone and, in some aspects, could be better than Keiji Inafune’s recent Mighty No 9 release.

A playable demo of Rocket Man can be downloaded and played using GameBoy Emulation software; of which links can be found within the Youtube Video.

You can play GameBoy games on the JXD, BLAZE TAB and GPD XD; all of which are available to order from www.funstockretro.co.uk.
