King Of Fighters is making a quiet comeback. Between the latest release of King of Fighters XIV and the recently announced MMO, it’s about time the King of Fighters series steps back up to the plate! Often overshadowed by the likes of Street Fighter or Smash Brothers, gamers around the world hold fond memories of playing the King of Fighters series in Arcades everywhere.
SNK is doing their best to capitalise on this by pushing the King of Fighters brand with renewed vigour. The latest outing is that they’ve announced a new CG animation series that’ll be premiering in Summer 2018. Titled King of Fighters: Destiny.
Check out the trailer below.
The trailer gives away very little, simply showcasing a wide cast of characters. Which include Kyo Kusanagi, Benimaru Nikaido, Goro Daimon, Terry Bogard, Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, Ryo Sakazaki, Robert Garcia, and Yuri Sakazaki. King of Fighters: Destiny is a bit of a Chinese venture, as the series will release in China first. But Japanese voice actors are noted alongside Chinese voice actors over on the official website.
It looks like an impressive effort on the part of SNK and everyone involved. They even have some of the same staff members who worked on the recent Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV CG animated movie helming the animation process, so it’s clear that they want the series to be a love letter to King of Fighters.
What do you think of this series? Is there any other series you’d like to see given the animated series treatment?
