Not sure what to play? Give Chroma Squad a shot

Are you a fan of JUSTICE? Fighting crime and standing up for what is right?! No? Okay well, what about a tactical RPG with neat pixel art and loads of charm? Yes? Awesome.

Chroma Squad is a game that released recently for the PS4 and Xbox One, but it has been around for a while now. Having released on PC back in 2015. The game is a rare instance of a kickstarted project making good on its promises in the end, with no seedy drama whatsoever and delivering a fantastic experience.

Heck, it had to deal with more drama from people in suits than internal struggles, as the creators of Power Rangers initially wanted to halt the game. But it seems a compromise was met in the end. Which is fantastic considering the game that came out of it.

It’s basically a huge parody of Power Rangers and sees you take the driver’s seat in directing your own Power Rangers style TV show for the masses to enjoy. With tons of micromanagement elements thrown in, such as upgrading to a bigger set, better costumes, and more. It’s filled with a variety of cheeky humour that references the spandex hero genre that kids love to this day, such as why on earth explosions seem to happen behind them every time they strike a pose.

The games feature list should be able to explain things a bit better, so take a look down below.

  • Customize your TV studio: hire actors, upgrade your gear, do marketing, craft weapons, costumes and giant cardboard robots!

  • Tactical RPG combat with a twist: combine your heroes’ abilities with Teamwork maneuvers!

  • In-Depth RPG systems with skill trees, random equipment, crafting, and branching storyline with 3 different endings!

  • Giant Mecha combat – destroy the city to save the city!

  • A love letter to Power Rangers, Tokusatsu and the Japanese series of our childhoods!

  • Deliciously-animated pixel art and a chiptune soundtrack that shines like justice
