Secret of Mana Sequel coming to the Nintendo Switch?

Seiken Densetsu is a series that has very little going on right now. Fans are salivating at the mouth for more content. Much like fans of Mother or Suikoden clamour for continuations for their respective franchises.

English speakers will know the series as Secret of Mana. Praised as one of the best RPG games from the Retro era, standing next to greats like Terranigma and Chrono Trigger.

The official Seiken Densetsu Twitter Account has tweeted some footage of the 3rd game in the series, Seiken Densetsu 3 running on the Nintendo Switch via the Virtual Console.

Seeing this is quite exciting, but it’s important to remember not to jump to conclusions straight away.

SOMETHING TO KEEP IN MIND.

Seiken Densetsu 3 has never been released outside of Japan. Hence the Japanese title, instead of sporting a ‘Secret of Mana 2’ moniker. While the Switch is region free, it cannot change the fact that Seiken Densetsu 3 has not been translated officially. Fan Translations are out there, but much like Mother 3. It’s hard to imagine Nintendo would bring this game to English-speaking countries in a proper capacity.

Instead – This is more of a celebration for Japanese gamers. The Wii Virtual Console never saw Seiken Densetsu release during its time. So the fact that Japan will be getting one of their hallmark classics is a fact that Japanese gamers are more than likely cheering about.

What do you think? Excited about this announcement? Will you import the game regardless of translation?
