SEGA have announced that a Hub World for SEGA Mega Drive games, otherwise known as SEGA Mega Drive Classics Hub, will be available on Steam from the 28th April 2016.
Developed by D3T this hub world will allow steam users to access all of the SEGA Mega Drive games they own on Steam within a single location; with the environment itself designed as your average bedroom from the nineties. As part of this hub world users will be able to view their entire SEGA Mega Drive collection, which is linked to Mega Drive games purchased through Steam, on a shelf while elsewhere users will see a CRT TV, a Sega Mega Drive console and all sorts of SEGA related posters decorating the room.
It’s a perfect representation of a traditional bedroom during the Mega Drive era of gaming; but interestingly enough that’s not all that the SEGA Mega Drive Classics Hub will offer as this new product will also feature Steam Workshop Support. The result of this means that every SEGA Mega Drive game released onto Steam can now be modified through this hub world; a feature which should create some interesting variations of classic Mega Drive titles. The SEGA Mega Drive Classics Hub will also included improved emulation, visual filters – such as those found on the Retron 5 – and the ability for local play with both Controllers and Keyboards as input devices.
The SEGA Mega Drive Classics Hub World is currently expected to launch on the 28th April 2016 through Steam and it will be compatible with all previously released SEGA Mega Drive games released onto the Platform.
You can play SEGA Mega Drive games as they were originally intended on the SEGA Mega Drive Wireless Console – Mortal Kombat Edition at www.funstockretro.co.uk; alternatively you can view our selection of SEGA titles on www.funstockdigital.co.uk.
