Shinobi is a fantastic series that Sega has made, it’s rather under appreciated to be honest. A fantastic side scroller that capitalized on the popularity of Kung Fu and Ninja’s in English speaking territories made popular back in the 80’s and Early 90’s thanks to people like Bruce Lee, who really helped create that boom.
Shinobi is the tale of Joe Musashi, oddly enough not named ‘Shinobi’ as a great deal of us had thought he was named at the time. It told a simple story of action, adventure, stealth, and used fantastic and challenging game-play to connect with us. There is no lack of action when you control Joe, jumping around using various Ninja Arts that hold power over Fire for example. To throw a shuriken at a badguy, then suddenly using your sword to take down another while still in mid air is nothing short of fantastic!
Once again, our friend over at SlopesGameRoom has decided to tell us all about the development history of Shinobi. He does not skip any details either, as this is his longest video to date. An informative look into a classic SEGA franchise which was fallen out of the limelight as of late, make sure to check out Slope and his coverage on Shinobi! You might just need to pick up one of the games again and give it a go for a trip down memory lane.
What do you guys think? Do you think that Joe needs to make a return to our consoles? I sure think so! What about you?
